FIMC AWANA Program

FIMC began the Awana program several months ago.  This is a program for children from age 3-yrs to 12-yrs old!  The response and participation in the program both on the part of the children and the adult workers has been nothing less than a blessing to our entire church family!

AWANA is for your child's future.... right now!

We want to thank you in advance for letting your child come to Awana. We know that you are concerned about your child's health and contentment in every area of life. You care about shaping values, building character and providing a strong moral foundation. That's why we'd like to tell you what Awana offers that will help your child now and in the future.

What Does My Child Experience at Awana?

* Biblical teaching that relates to your child's experiences

* Ultra-fun physical activity and competition

* Bible memorization

* Positive friendships

* Adult affirmation and encouragement

* The basics of a relationship with God

* Consistant and positive training on how to thrive in team and group settings

* Awards and recognition for accomplishments

Awana has designed a three-part program to maximize your child's attention, energy and time.

#1 - Fun and Exciting Games, unique to the Awana program, that allow many kids to participate no matter their skill level.

#2 - Small Group Time with a caring adult leader. No getting lost in the crowd here. Your child receives individualized attention as he or she works through an introductory booklet and handbook.

#3 - Interactive Large Group Segment between an adult leader and all the kids in your child's Awana club. Boring? Hardly! Awana leaders go the extra mile to help your kids understand the Bible and how it applies to their lives in an exciting and challenging way.

The Awana Program will help your child succeed in life.... but your child's ultimate success is up to YOU.
You may not see the word "parent" in your child's Awana handbook,
but it's all through the materials. We never forget that you are the most important part of your child's spiritual development. We see you as the owner of an entire toolbox of methods that help your child grow and mature. Awana can be one of your tools - one that we hope you choose to use for many years in your child's life.
Imagine this: your child comes home from a fun time at Awana. He or she is excited about memorizing Bible verses and earning rewards. That's where you, the Very Important Parent (our VIP), come in. You're thrilled that your child is motivated to learn, and you want to help. Just like you do when you help with homework, you help your child review the verses he or she is learning in Awana.

Take a Look at What Your Child Will Bring Home.

Your child will receive a fun introductory brochure at Awana to work through. After completing the brochure, your child will begin working in a handbook. It would be ideal if your child completed two sections per week in the brochure and handbook. Each section ends with a space where the leader signs his or her name.

The club brochures are all different, but they have some important things in common:
1

The Importance Of Bible Memorization.

(The Bible is the rock-solid foundation of everything we do at Awana.)

2

God As The Standard For Behavior.

(The Bible tells us that God always does the right thing.)

3

Something We All Have In Common: That Sin Thing.

(After all, we all do wrong things. Sin seperates us from God, who has never sinned.)

4

God's Love For Your Child And You.

(He longs for us to be reconciled to Him! That's why He sent His Son, Jesus, to take your punishment for sin.

5

The Need To Trust In Jesus Christ.

(That's all that's necessary - to simply trust that Jesus' death on the cross paid the penalty for your sin.)

6

Eternal Life With God And Jesus.

(This is our amazing gift - living forever with our loving God and Savior in heaven!)

The club brochure also covers other things - like uniforms, awards and parental involvement. Check it out!
What Else Can I Do To Help My Child Succeed?
At home, fire up your child's entusiasm:
*
Find a good time - at lunch or before bedtime, for example - to work on verse memorization with him or her. Five or ten minutes several times a week are a great investment to help your child succeed.
*
Ask your child to teach the Awana games to the other kids in the family or to friends.
*
Memorize the verses along with your child so that you can practice with each other.
*
Work Awana into your family's schedule by making each club meeting on the calendar.
In the car, spark some conversation:
*
Who is your favorite leader? Why do you like him or her?
*
Which game did you enjoy? How do you play it?
*

Did you say any verses at Awana? Can I hear them? What did you learn from them?

*
Would you show me at home what you are working on next?
Where can I learn more about Awana?
Since 1950, Awana has been committed to partnering with parents and churches to help kids know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. God's Word, the Bible, promises to show us how to do that, and it is the foundation for our club and program materials.
